The Gears of War Movie is On

Aiight, cuzzo. It was reported by director Len Wiseman that the Gears of War Movie is officially underway. Check out the interview with Wiseman, some of the movie's writers, and some of the game makers where they assure fans that this movie will not fall into the same category as the other failed game to film adaptations. I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty excited despite the many failed video game movies. Mortal Kombat, Max Payne, Resident Evil, and Doom (wasn't horrible) were good so its definitely possible for this to be a quality film. Tell us what you think.

Heroes Season 4 Trailer

Yo, cuz. Check out the trailer for Heroes Season 4. I, being a Heroes fan whose seen every episode, is very excited to see what's in store for this season. Last season was a little bland and uninteresting but it really picked up near the Season finale so my faith was restored somewhat. And as you can see, Sylar is in the trailer, so Angela Patrelli has some explaining to do. Peep it and tell me what you think.

inFAMOUS

It was reported that Sony is currently negotiating a deal to create a film adaptation of the PS3 game inFAMOUS. The game follows a bike messenger named Cole who given extraordinary electrical powers after a huge explosion. Now he must battle mutant gangs with his ability to scale walls and rooftops and his explosive electric powers.

I haven't played this game but I hear there is a killer twist at the end and the in-game plot is similar to that of a Marvel character. Plus the game trailer is redic. I've always meant to play this game so if I do between now and when the movie is made, I'll tell you guys how it plays. Hopefuly this will be one of the better game to movie adaptations. Check out the game trailer and read the article [inFAMOUS Article]. Stay up.

This movie looks no different so check out the trailer. Stay Up.

Comic Book Character of the Week: The Joker

Aight, cuzzo. I'm starting this new thing on the blog where I shout out a Comic Book Character of the Week every week. This honor only goes to the toughest of characters so stay up. This week's character is the Joker.

The greatest comic book villain ever, and as versatile a character as his nemesis, the Batman. The Joker has been a merry prankster of crime (poisoning all the fish in Gotham Bay so they sport his literally trademarked grin, then suing fishmongers for copyright infringement) and a gleefully sadistic bastard (responsible for permanently crippling Batgirl and temporarily killing at least one Robin), and always done his best to get under the ultra-grim Batman’s skin by taunting him with sick jokes.

There’s a sense that Joker is the only one of the rogues’ gallery Bruce Wayne really hates –many comics (eg: Frank Miller Jr’s The Dark Knight Returns, Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s The Killing Joke, Grant Morrison and Dave McKean’s Arkham Asylum, Michael Green and Denys Cowan’s Lovers & Madmen) revolve around Batman and the Joker as opposites or mirror images.

Heath Ledger's portrayal was phenomenal, but it is a shame we may never see a movie adaptation as good. RIP Heath Ledger. The Joker first appeared in Batman #1 in 1940 and was created by Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson. Props to Empire Online

Comic-Con Day 3: Marvel Anime Ironman Trailer

Yo, cuz. Marvel is expanding to Japan and producing re-imaginings of their characters in anime style. They are currently working along side the Japanese anime production studio, Madhouse and they showed a few teaser trailers at Comic-con. Here is their Japanese anime Ironman Teaser. It looks insane!! Peep it and tell me what you think.

Comic-Con Day 2: Gary Oldman Reveals Dark Knight Sequel

Gary Oldman, while discussing his new film The Book of Eli, revealed today that the filming of the Dark Knight sequel begins next year!! Oldman, who played Commissioner Gordon in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight was quoted saying:

"I think the next Batman is next year. We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me."

This is one of the most anticipated films of all time so this is huge news. I'm extremely excited. What do you guys think about this news? Props to ComingSoon.net. Stay up for more Comic-Con and Dark Knight sequel updates.

AVATAR @ SDCC Day 1 (Not the Airbender)

James Cameron, the director that gave us goliath films such as Titanic and Alien, screened 25 minutes of his latest and, rumored, greatest film yet to the lucky attendees of San Diego Comic-Con 2009 yesterday. The director said that the idea for the film has been on his mind for a long time but the technology to produce and view the film did not exist until now. Just reading the play by play descriptions from Jaw-dropped Twitterers inside the screening makes AVATAR sound incredibly brilliant and visually stunning.

The films story is said to be completely original, every piece coming straight from the directors highly talented and ambitious head.
Unfortunately it was a closed screening so all we have for now are Twitters and descriptions of the phenomenon of AVATAR.

I know I can't wait to see more and fortunately I won't have to wait long, and neither will you. James Cameron also announced that he plans to take over every I-MAX screen he can get his hands on and give a worldwide 15-min screening of AVATAR on AUGUST 21st.

The film was supposed to hit theaters this May but Cameron reportedly said that the conventional I-MAX projectors weren't bright enough and not up to the standards of the film yet.

Cameron's AVATAR will drop this December.

This is going to be BIG!

Comic-Con Day 1: The Book of Eli Trailer

Yo, cuz. Here's the trailer for the Hughes Brothers' new epic, The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington. It's pretty sick so peep it. Props to Trailer Addict.

Comic Con Day 1: Ninja Assassin Trailer and Poster

Yo, cuz. Comic Con is underway and they're already showing off some sick movies. Above is the new poster for Ninja Assassin and as you can see, it looks absolutely out of control. So far this is an opening nighter and it also shows some resemblance to Tony Jaa's Ong Bak so I'm already a fan.

And below is the the rediculous trailer. Peep and tell me what you think.

Watch out!

Master Fantastic here, making my Super Hadouken debut!

For my first post I'd like to bring some special exclusive news straight out of my school, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
This past November Genndy Tartakovsky, famed creator of Dexter's Laboratory, Star Wars: Clone Wars (the 2-d micro-series), and of course Samurai Jack paid a visit to RISD to give a lecture where he talked for the first time about upcoming projects such as SYM-BIONIC TITAN and shared unreleased never been seen cartoons like an episode of Dexter featuring Dexter and Dee-dee's evil foul-mouthed counterparts (hilarious)!. The morning after the amazing lecture he held a small more personal workshop where he worked one on one with students and looked at portfolios. Having attended, I can tell you that there is nobody as cool as Genndy, he's just a really nice and very talented guy.

At both the lecture and the workshop he released that the long awaited Samurai Jack movie is definitely on its way, with a script already in the works. The movie will conclude the Samurai's Quest to defeat Aku and return to the past. Genndy also mentioned that they've been playing with the idea of doing a 3-d movie, but was quick to say that it wouldn't be like all the 3-d crap happening today. Rather it would be used in select scenes to make it appear as if the action is happening above the audience in big fight scenes. In any case, this should be incredible.

He also talked about the work he did on Iron man 2 and said that the action will for sure surpass the last movie.
As for Genndy's return to Cartoon Network, he announced and showed short clips from his new project SYM-BIONIC TITAN about three extraterrestrials
from the war-torn planet Galaluna who crash-land, only to be swept up in high school and the fate of the Earth as we know it.I can't wait to see more!
More on Genndy and SYM-BIONIC TITAN at Comic-Con 2009.

The show will produce 26 new episodes for Comedy Central and they are currently doing a casting call to find new voice actors. Check out the article.
[Futurama Article] Will the show be the same without the original voice actors? We shall see. That's about it but stay up.

DC Movie Updates

Aiight, cuzzo. As you should know Marvel is planning on releasing an ass-load of movies in the near future but they aren't the only comic book company with a ton of movies in production. DC Comics is also working to control the box office in the next few years. It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that even though it seem like Marvel controls the news, it is in fact DC that has more movies in production. Along with upcoming release of Green Lantern, DC is making films for The Flash, Teen Titans, Jonah Hex, Human Target, Red, Aquaman, Shazam, Bizarro Superman and The Losers. Warner Brothers has also hired a few of DC's biggest writers to to serve as consultants of the movies. It looks like DC is going to give Marvel a run for it's money. Check out the article. [DC Updates]

In other DC news, The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the dispute over the rights of the Superman franchise was won by DC Comics and Warner Brothers, meaning that the heir of the creators will receive revenue from Superman Returns released in 2006. Also the judge gave Warner Brothers until 2013 to release another Superman film or their copyright expires and the rights of Superman goes to the heirs. This means when the copyright expires in 2013, Superman will basically be up for grabs. Superman can possibly become a Marvel character. The thing is, there is no work being done on another movie right now so we could see Superman on the Marvel brand in 5 years. I have to admit, that would be pretty sick. What do y'all think? Do you Marvel could do a better job with Superman franchise? Check out the full article. [Superman Trial] What if?

Post # 50!! Return of Michael Bluth, Master Fantastic and more

Aiight, cuz. Here are a few new movies in production and in talks right now:

Antman
Shrek 5

In other news, we have a new member of the Super Hadouken Team, Master Fantastic. Look forward to his first post soon. That's about it so stay up.

The Expendables

Aiight, cuzzo. Sylvester Stallone has written, directed and is starring in what's being called the "Manliest Movie of All-Time." This movie is called The Expendables and its about a group of mercenaries who travel to South America to overthrow a dictator, but let's be honest, the plot probably won't be that important in this film. And that's ok because this testoterone- based epic has an allstar cast.

Its features: Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Jet Li (Hero), Jason Stathom (Crank), Terry Crews (Friday After Next), Forest Whitaker (Panic Room), Stone Cold Steve Austin (WWE), Dolph Lundgren (Showdown in Little Tokyo), Randy Couture (UFC), Arnold Scwarzenegger (Terminator), and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). This movie might be out of control! With a cast of this magnitude, the execution must be on point. I'm really excited for this. What do ya'll think? Its set to hit theaters April 23rd, 2010. I'll keep ya'll posted on trailers and updates so stay up.

The Buzz: The Hack/ Slash and Suicide Squad Movies

Aiight, cuzzo. Its been announced that Rogue Pictures is making a live action movie based on the Hack/ Slash comic book. The comic involves a girl named Cassie Hack who hunts down and kills monsters called "slashers" with the help of her gas mask wearing partner Vlad. Vlad's face is deformed so he wears a gas mask and his choice of weapons are two meat cleavers. This sounds outta control! Here's more on the story [Hack/Slash Story]. Writer, Justin Marks (Heman, Voltron), and director, Fredrick Bond, will be working on this film.

It was also reported that Warner Bros. is developing a live action adaptation of the comi
c book The Suicide Squad. The comic book is about a government group of supervillains that is sent of various suicide missions. Often during their missions, members would die and it was never clear which team members would survive so it added to the suspense of the story. One thing this story does is focus on the villains instead of the heroes so it should be pretty cool if well executed. Here's some more info on the story [Suicide Squad Story]. This also being written by Justin Marks. I'm not fimiliar with these comic books but from the sounds of their plots, I'm curious to see how they turn out. What do you guys think?

Ryan Reynolds in the Green Lantern Costume

Here's a fan made look at Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. Its a great Photoshop job but Ryan Reynolds still doesn't seem like the Green Lantern to me. What do ya'll think?

Potential Batman Sequel Villains

I know a Dark Knight sequel is not due for a while but it doesn't hurt to wonder about some villains that would be great to see. (if it ever comes out). Any of these characters would have cool on screen adaptations. Click for character bios.

Poison Ivy
The Riddler
Catwoman

Street Fighter (remake)

Marvin the Martian
Gremlins 3
Sucker Punch! (Zack Snyder)

In other news, they have announced open casting calls for martial arts experts for the new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The best auditions will be given parts as members of the Foot Clan. Check out the article: [TMNT Casting Article]. Also John Fusco (Young Guns, Hidalgo) was reported to be the writer of the new movie and he will be on the TMNT discussion panel on Friday at Comic-con. The new TMNT movie should be in theaters in 2011. I'm peepin' opening night. I don't care whats goin' on. That's about it but stay up.

Aiight, cuzzo. Comic-con is only a week away and if you didn't already know, this is the place where they provide exclusives on all the must-sees from new movies to new tv shows for the following year. They have released the 09 schedules and this year is gonna be crazy. Here are some honorable mentions:

Then director, Troy Duffy will hold a panel discussion with the cast of Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day and show the world premiere trailer for the movie.

Next the cast of Fringe will hold a panel discussion and show an exclusive trailer of the new season.

Then there will be a panel discussion for the long awaited Ironman 2, where everyone from Jon Favreau to Samuel Jackson will answer questions and show the world premiere trailer for the movie. Look for a bootleg version on Youtube in a few weeks.

Then the cast of HBO's True Blood are holding a Q&A and giving a presentation on the new season.

Kevin Smith
, the creator of Clerks and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, will hold a panel discussion for his new movie, Couple of Dicks starring Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis.

Then director Len Wiseman and writer Chris Morgan are holding a panel discussion about the Gears of War movie and showing deleted scenes from the game, Gears of War 2. Hopefully they will also show a trailer or teaser for the movie.

Director, Scott Sanders, will then hold a panel discussion about his new movie, Black Dynamite, a blacksploitation film starring Michael Jai White (Spawn) and Tommy Davidson (In Living Color).

Its gonna be so tough this year but if you're not going, the TV Guide Channel and Reelz Channel are both doing coverage on it. That's all for now but stay up.

Who is Green Lantern?!

Aiight, cuzzo. It was reported earlier today that they narrowed the casting of the Green Lantern to three finalist. Ryan Reynolds (Blade III, Wolverine), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover)and Justin Timberlake (Alpha Dog). Ok first of all, why?!! Justin Timberlake though? He was really good in Aplha Dog and everything but I think he would make a really bad Hal Jordan. I can't imagine how they would consider him. He's a pretty good actor and all, but this is just not a good part for him. Check it out for yourself: [Green Lantern Finalist Article]

Anyway later in the day, it was reported that Ryan Reynolds was indeed given the role as Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie. This isn't as bad as Justin Timberlake being the Green Lantern but this still isnt satisfying for me. Reynolds is fresh off his role as Deadpool in the Wolverine movie and he was perfect. It seems like these people doing casting are getting lazy. Why are they getting the same people to play different superheroes? You mean to tell me, you couldn't find any other actor on Earth to play this character? It just screws up the two universes. (DC and Marvel) Dont get me wrong Reynolds is one of my favorite actors, but seeing him as Deadpool and Green Lantern kind of ruins the experience. Check out the article: [Green Lantern Casted Article] I'll definitely see it even though I don't exactly agree with its direction. How do ya'll feel about their decision? Am I wrong for being mad about this? It's supposed to come out July 17th 2011 so stay up.
