Announced back in January by Sony, the NGP features a high-resolution(said to be four times the resolution of the PSP) touch-sensitive OLED screen(I've tried to find the screen dimensions to no avail), dual analog sticks with tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, front and back facing cameras, built-in stereo speakers and microphone, and a rear touch-sensitive panel. It's external dimensions are approximately 182.0 x 18.6 x 83.5mm (width x height x depth), though this has been said to be tentative. In addition to it's dual analog sticks, additional keys and switches will be the power switch, directional pad(up/down/left/right), action buttons(the common X/circle/triangle/square), shoulder buttons(left/right), start and select buttons, volume control buttons, and the Playstation button(also known as the home button).
The system will feature a PowerVR SGX543MP4+ graphical processor in addition to a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, 3G connectivity as well as built-in Bluetooth and WiFi, built-in GPS and WiFi locator, and a new flash memory storage for games. The flash memory card, made specifically for the NGP, will be able to store full software titles as well as add-on content and saves directly on the card. Sony says adopting this form of storage allows the ability to be able to store more and more amounts of data on single cards and be able to make larger sized cards available in the future.
Sony says the NGP will be able to play Playstation One titles supported through it's Playstation Suite platform, and will be backwards compatible with downloadable Playstation Portable games.
As said before, there's no official release date or price, but Sony estimated back in January that it will be available for the 2011 holiday season.
