Super Kaioken!: Jordan Next Generation 2012: Jordan Fly Wade II

Description:

"When we got into the Fly Wade 2, we wanted to take bits and pieces of the original Fly Wade but also embark on the new opportunity to increase court feel, bounce, court fit, underfoot technology, comfort.

So, with the Jordan Fly Wade, we went super lightweight, but with the Jordan Fly Wade 2, we brought in a new running shoe technology, Lunar foam. We wanted to use this technology to its full potential. In order to do that, we figured the maximum amount we could and how would we construct this shoe. So, we went with Lunar from heel to toe and side to side. We wanted to bring this technology to all of the Jordan Fly Wade 2’s edges. That in itself created a different type of bounce, feel and fit to this product than in any running shoe that possesses Lunar.

When we presented it to him, he was in the Jordan Fly Wade and he loved the feel of that. So, he put the Jordan Fly Wade 2 on his other foot and he loved the feel of that anymore; it didn’t take much convincing.

On the outsole, we incorporated a three-point herringbone. Basically, we made it multi-directional and incorporated in different sizes on different areas of the outsole.

We wanted the Jordan Fly Wade 2 to be as close to the foot as possible with as few materials as we could use. In certain areas, there are multiple layers, which fits his rugged style of play. We wanted to incorporate as much breathability as possible too. Fuse really brings that all together.

Dwyane Wade is really a fan of the satin finishes more than the glossy finishes. So, we wanted to get into the more bolder, anodized finishes. When we showed him some things, he really gravitated to the metallic designs. You will see more anodized finishes as we move forward with this product.

The first shoe featured the logo from the advertising campaign. But in the meantime, we were working on what logo is going to best represent Dwyane Wade, Jordan Brand and this sleek, modern design. We wanted to have some fun with it, so this logo has some motion to it. It’s a ‘W’ for Wade, it’s a three (jersey number), and it’s also a ‘M’ for Miami and an ‘E’ for east coast. So, it’s kind of a fun play on it."
