Sony is Trying to Buy the Rights to the Biography of Steve Jobs!

Deadline reports:

the upcoming authorized biography by former CNN chairman and Time Magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson. I’m hearing the deal is $1 million against $3 million and that Mark Gordon will be the producer

The studio seems a good fit for the book, having boiled business books into compelling dramas with both the Oscar-nominated The Social Network and Moneyball. The Isaacson book was supposed to be published on November 21st by Simon & Schuster but now the release date has moved up to October 24th, according to a spokeswoman for the publisher. This was the hottest about-to-be biopic in Hollywood. [Will Hollywood Book Biopic Of Steve Jobs?] The 448-page profile is based on over 40 interviews with the Apple co-founder and over 100 conversations with friends, family members, colleagues and competitors. And it’s a compelling story: the building of the world’s most valuable technology company by creating the devices that changed how people use electronics and revolutionized the computer, music, and mobile phone industries. Jobs gave his full cooperation but had not read it as of mid-August. At first titled iSteve: the Book Of Jobs, Isaacson had second thoughts about what was appropriate for the first biography to get Jobs’ blessing and cooperation. Even when it wasn’t even finished, it made it (briefly) into the top 50 on Amazon’s bestseller list. Isaacson eventually persuaded his publisher Simon & Schuster to go with the simple title of Steve Jobs. First planned for 2012, the book’s release date was moved up.

Jobs reportedly fought off a long list of would-be biographers over the years then chose Isaacson who’s written about Henry Kissinger, Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein

The Gadgets: Sony is Offering "DC Universe Online" for Free in Late October!

Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) announced a new free-to-play business model for its popular massively multiplayer online (MMO) game DC Universe Online (DCUO) — where players have the freedom to become legendary fighting alongside DC Comics icons like Superman, Batman and The Joker in an ever-evolving online action adventure that has already logged more than 42 million hours of super-powered gameplay action by players since its launch earlier this year.

SOE also stated that they will be offering three different tiers of membership: Free, Premium, and Legendary.

• Free: New players will now have access to the current gameplay in DC Universe Online (including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts), with the ability to create two characters, join a league and many other benefits. Free level players will be able to purchase downloadable game packs/updates, additional character slots, powers and more through micro transactions.

• Premium: Any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items) will qualify for the Premium access level. Premium level players will have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. Downloadable adventure packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game.

• Legendary: Maximum features and benefits are included at this level. Loaded with enhanced additional features, Legendary access will be available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee and includes all DLC packs at no cost, more than 15 character slots, more than 80 inventory slots, the ability to form unrestricted-sized leagues, and many other benefits.

CULVER CITY, Calif., February 25, 2011 – Summer 2012 is heating up for moviegoers as Columbia Pictures adds three highly anticipated films to its summer slate, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, chairman, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures. Joining the strong summer line-up that already includes Men in Black™ 3 in 3D (May 25) and The Amazing Spider-Man™ in 3D (July 3), the studio will release I Hate You, Dad, starring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, on June 22, Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, on July 27, and a re-imagining of Total Recall, starring Colin Farrell, on August 3.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, “Not only do we have two of our most exciting franchises back in theaters with Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man, but the three movies we added to the slate today round out a fantastic schedule. We love comedy in the summer and you can’t ask for better stars than Adam Sandler and Kevin James. Total Recall has us excited not only because of its incredible pedigree – we love the original story and the first film – but we think this new project will really hit home with a new generation of moviegoers.”

I Hate You, Dad centers on a father (Sandler) who moves in on the eve of his son’s (Samberg) wedding and promptly begins feuding with the bride-to-be. Adam Sandler, Jack Giarraputo and Heather Parry are producing, Barry Bernardi serves as executive producer, with the screenplay by David Caspe and David Wain & Ken Marino.

In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, Kevin James stars as a high school biology teacher who moonlights as a mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to save the school’s music program. Director Frank Coraci, who recently directed James in Zookeeper, which Columbia and MGM are co-financing and will be released this summer, re-teams with the star. Here Comes the Boom is produced by Todd Garner and Kevin James. Executive producers are Jeff Sussman, Marty Ewing and Sean Robbins. The screenplay is written by Allan Loeb & Kevin James.

Total Recall is a new, contemporized reimagining of the science fiction saga. The film will be directed by Len Wiseman and produced by Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe, with Ric Kidney on-board as executive producer. The short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick served as the source for the 1990 Motion Picture screen story by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill and screenplay by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Gary Goldman, with the updated screenplay being written by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt.

Men In Black 3 Film Details

• Agent Jay was going to be sent back in time to 1969 where he teams up with a young Kay to stop a crazy evil villain named Yaz from destroying the world in the future.
• There’s only one real bad guy in the film, and it’s Yaz, described as a nightmare biker who looks like Dennis Hopper and Satan. This character is played by Flight of the Conchord’s Jemaine Clement. The character is described as oozing badassery and violence out of every pore. It should really be interesting to see Clement take on such a interesting villainous role.
• Agent K in 1969 is supposed to be 26 years old. But isn't Brolin 42? I guess if they can make him look like a college aged George Bush they can make him look like a 26 year old K.
• A new cast of celebrities are revealed as aliens in this era, among these aliens are Yoko Ono, Jimi Hendrix, Castro, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Andy Warhol, who actually has an extended scene where he aids Jay and Kay on their mission.
• There is a scene which describes an Apple Store as a secret time-travel hub, and shaking the iPhone’s clock app as a way to travel into the past... I want that app!
• The general idea is that Yaz travels back in time to kill K, which sets off a chain of events that ends in the destruction of the world.
• There’s a bunch of future-seeing aliens that are central to the plot.

Andrew Garfield Has Been Officially Cast as Spiderman!

Sony has announced that British actor Andrew Garfield would play Peter Parker in the new 3D Spider-Man reboot being directed by (500) Days of Summer Director Marc Webb. He seems to fit the part, so hopefully he will do well. Fingers crossed!

Who is the New Spiderman?

Now that Sony is developing their Spiderman Reboot, they've been trying to cast a teenage Peter Parker/ Spiderman. And similarly to the Green Lantern casting, there some potential prospects.

Josh Hutcherson is 18 years old and he's the youngest of the bunch. He also has the most experience. His credits include The Red Dawn Remake, RV, Journey to the Center of the Earth and several more films.

Frank Dillane is a 19 year old British actor who played a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince


Andrew Garfield is a 27 year old actor who has been in films such as Boy A, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and is most recently starring in David Fincher's The Social Network.


Alden Ehrenreich is a 20 year old actor who was in Francis Ford Coppola in 2009’s Tetro.

And finally the front runner for the role, Jamie Bell, a 24 year old English actor who made his film debut playing the title character in Billy Elliot. Since then he's been in a few films such as King Kong, Defiance, and Speilberg's upcoming Tintin.

To tell you the truth none of these actors are screaming Peter Parker to me. But the best one to me has to be Josh Hutcherson. He seems to resemble a teenage super hero more than the others but we'll see how the search turns out. What do you think? Stay Up.

Michael Jackson's This Is It Trailer

Aiight, cuzzo. Here's the official trailer for Michael Jackson's This Is It documentary and it looks really epic. I definitely want to see this. Watching the trailer alone got me a little emotional so I know I'll enjoy this film.

This film will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London’s O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from April through June, 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at Jackson as he has never been seen before. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson’s This Is It captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show. Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson’s creative partner and the director of the stage show is also directing the film, which is being produced by Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega and Paul Gongaware. Executive producers are John Branca and John McClain. The film will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Releasing.

All Michael fans should go see this when it comes out for two weeks only on September 27th, 2009. Check out the trailer also. Exploitation or not, this should be an enjoyable film. Stay up.

Yo, cuzzo. Here is the official poster for Sony Picture's Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It. This documentary is made up of Michael's last tour footage which was purchased by Sony for 60 million dollars.

This poster looks pretty epic and I'm really excited to see this although it does seem like a ploy to make money off of his death. inFAMOUS

It was reported that Sony is currently negotiating a deal to create a film adaptation of the PS3 game inFAMOUS. The game follows a bike messenger named Cole who given extraordinary electrical powers after a huge explosion. Now he must battle mutant gangs with his ability to scale walls and rooftops and his explosive electric powers.

I haven't played this game but I hear there is a killer twist at the end and the in-game plot is similar to that of a Marvel character. Plus the game trailer is redic. I've always meant to play this game so if I do between now and when the movie is made, I'll tell you guys how it plays. Hopefuly this will be one of the better game to movie adaptations.
