The Gadgets: Batman: Arkham Asylum Breaks Records

Yo, cuzzo. Batman: Arkham Asylum was released this week and already it has earned itself a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records. It was Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever. The game has recieved a worldwide average rating of 91.67 so I'm pretty sure it deserves the record. I haven't played it yet but after all the buzz its getting, I might have to go out and cop.

Check out the trailer below, if you haven't seen it already. This game definitely does look sick. Thats about it but stay up. I might have a little review about this game.

The Buzz: Updates for Hancock 2 and Green Hornet

Yo, cuz. Here are a few updates on a couple of projects. First off, Hancock 2 is officially in production. Columbia Pictures has hired two writers, Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to work on the screenplay. Of course many critics didn't like Hancock (for reasons unknown) but I really liked it so I can't wait for a Hancock sequel. These two writers have worked on such titles as Dexter, The Shield and 24 so be prepared for a quality plot. No plot details are revealed yet but stay up.

It has also been reported that the Green Hornet has been pushed back 5 months for no reason. Instead of coming out July 7th, 2010, its coming out December 17th 2010. This may mean that they're Smurfs movie, which was originally set for a December release, has to be moved back also. That's about it but stay up for more buzz.

Men Who Stare at Goats Trailer

Yo, cuz. Here's the trailer for the new dark comedy, Men Who Stare at Goats starring George Clooney and Jeff Bridges. From the trailer, it looks pretty funny. I loved Clooney in Burn After Reading so I'm all for this movie.

Its based on a novel, which centers around a section of the United States Military focuses on using their minds to develop paranormal powers. This experimental group has developed “unparalleled psychic powers to read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it.” And Clooney plays one of these soldiers. Peep the trailer and look out for it when it comes out November 6th, 2009

The Descent Part 2 Trailer

Aiight cuz. Here's the trailer for the long awaited, The Descent Part 2. The first Descent movie was absolutely redic! I'm talking outta control gore. I loved it so I'm really excited for this.

This film centers around a woman named Sarah, continuing the story of 2005’s horror thriller, The Descent, in which a group of young women disappear during a caving trip in the Appalachian Mountains. Emerging from the cave system alone, distraught and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear only to be forced back into the caves to help find her friends.

Why anyone would go back into those caves escapes me but it makes a great horror film so I'm all for it. If you haven't seen the first Descent, stop what you're doing and watch it. Its one of the great horror films. And peep this trailer, it looks really good.

Rob Zombie, Swamp Thing, and more

Spawn Animated Series

Yo, cuzzo. Here are some projects in production right now. The tough ones are highlighted so click on em' for more info:

Paranormal Activity: Evidence of Haunting Trailer

Aiight cuz. Here's the trailer for Dreamworks' Paranormal Activity: Evidence of Haunting. It centers around a young couple that suspects that their house is haunted by ghosts so they set up video surveillance to capture evidence of what happens at night as they sleep. Their surveillance and home videos have been edited into the 99 minute feature film.

This movie was independently made and shown at film festivals where audiences absolutely loved it. they said things like, “Possibly the Scariest Movie Ever Made and the Best Reason
to Wear Diapers at the Cinema" and “Paranormal Activity is the best American horror film in recent memory, and one of the scariest movies of the decade. Good luck getting to sleep after this one.”

This trailer looks sick. I have to say that I'm pretty excited to see this. It seems like these independent film festival movies turn out to be better than the big studio movies. I definitely wanna peep when it comes out September 25th 2009.

The Gadgets: Transforming Bumblebee Costume

Yo, cuz. Here is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Its a Transformers Bumblebee costume that actually transforms! Its fan made which is kind of sad but cool nonetheless. This guy must be the shit around Halloween lol. I would definitely cop one of these. Check out the video, its so tough.

EMBED-Awesome Halloween Costume - Watch more free videos

Cool Lost Poster

Yo, cuz. For all you Lost fans, I just stumbled upon this cool poster done by artists Olly Moss and Saul Bass. I watched Lost until about the second season so I can relate with this poster and I think its pretty epic.

Also below is some other artwork from Olly Moss which is featured on the Spoiler T-shirt. I might have to cop this shirt. For a limited time, its being sold at Treadless.com. Its so tough.

New Armored Trailer

Aiight, cuzzo. Here's the newest trailer for Armored starring Lawrence Fishburne (Matrix Trilogy), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) and Columbus Short (Stomp the Yard).

It centers around a crew of officers at an armored transport security firm risk their lives when they embark on the ultimate heist... against their own company. Armed with a seemingly fool-proof plan, the men plan on making off with a fortune with harm to none. But when an unexpected witness interferes, the plan quickly unravels and hell breaks loose. All bets are off and each man must fight to survive on a dog-eat-dog battleground made of steel.

This move seems like a tough action/drama, plus I'm a fan of Columbus Short and Larry Fishburne. And on top of that, it comes out on December 4th, 2009 which is my birthday so right now, I'm giving this movie a thumbs up. Peep the trailer. Its tough.

9 Extended Sneak Peak Trailer

Yo, cuz. Here's the new extended sneak peak trailer for Tim Burton's newest CG animated movie, 9. Its about the dystopian future in which 9 little rag dolls empowered with “the spark of life” try to defend themselves against a horde of tech-creatures which have all but extinguished life on the planet. It stars the likes of Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), John C. Reilly (Step Brothers), and Crispin Glover (Willard).

This movie looks pretty interesting so far. With all the CG animated films in production, this one looks like it could be one of the elite, plus Tim Burton is a genius when it comes to film making. He should make this good even though he's just the producer. Check out the trailer. 9 hits theaters on September 9th 2009.

The Gadgets: Wii Football

Yo, cuzzo. Nintendo has created a new controller that will be compatible with the Wii's football games. It's basically a soft football- shaped add- on to the regular Wii controller that gives players the ability to throw by strapping their hands to the football and making a throwing motion. And it gives you the ability to run by making certain body motions like shifting and jogging.
So for all you Wii owners, this looks pretty cool. It could make games like Madden more fun so check it out.

Green Lantern Updates

Aiight, cuzzo. The Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds has run into its first set of problems. The movie has a pretty huge budget of about 150 million and they were scheduled to start shooting in Australia in January, but due to the inflation and economic problems in Australia, shooting there would really blow through production costs.

So, what this means is Warner Bros. has two options: 1. Shoot in Australia anyway and make cutbacks on other parts of the production like CGI for instance. I'm sure Australia is a beautiful place and all but do we want Warner Bros' next superhero movie to look cheap visually like GI Joe or visually stunning like Transformers?

Or 2. They could film somewhere else and use that huge budget to turn the Green Lantern franchise into a success like The Dark Knight. I'm sure Warner Bros. will make the right choice. What do y'all think? That's about but I will be following production closely so stay up.

The Gadgets: Leaked New iPhone Commercial

Yo, cuz. Here's a leaked commercial for the iPhone that features the latest unnecessary apps. A few are absolutely hilarious so peep. I'm sticking with Verizon for now. These little apps aren't worth the grip.

Neil Blomkamp Talks Halo Movie and District 10

Aiight, cuzzo. Director Neil Blomkamp recently did an interview to talk about his very successful summer blockbuster, District 9 and he gets into the subject of the Halo movie, Peter Jackson and a possible District 9 sequel- or as he calls it District 10.

This interview has me really excited for more project from Blomkamp, escpecially a District 9 sequel so definitely listen to it and tell me what y'all think. [Neil Blomkamp Interview]

The Gadgets: Batman: Arkham Asylum

Yo, cuz. In an attempt to add a little more diversity to SH, I'm adding a new segment called The Gadgets, where I give y'all exclusive coverage on the toughest gadgets like games, new phones, etc. so peep.

Aiight first up, today DC Comics released the very anticipated, Batman: Arkham Asylum. This game has been hyped up by movie and game confidants since The Dark Knight was in theaters and it has been getting extremely positive reviews so this is a big deal. Its even getting Game of the Year buzz. Below is a featurette on it so peep. Best Batman game ever?? Tell me what you think.

Inception Teaser Trailer

Yo, cuzzo. Here's the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's newest movie,Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio. From the trailer alone I have no idea what they movie is about except for the fact that its directed by the director of The Dark Knight, which is a major selling point I might add.

It has some cool imagery and it has that Christopher Nolan intensity to it so peep the trailer and stay up for more info on this movie. It looks pretty fascinating so far.

Late Review: Bronson

Yo, cuz. I just saw Nicolas Winding Refn's Bronson and... I thought it was really good. I anticipated that this film would be great and it didn't disappoint so it deserves a Late Review.

Bronson centers around Britain's most violent prisoner, Michael Peterson aka Charles Bronson, who turns a small 7 year prison sentence into a pending life sentence due to his urge to commit violent crimes out of boredom.
This movie was extremely entertaining. Not once was I bored or waiting for it to end. In fact, I think the one and a half hour run time was not enough to fully capture this man's story. Director Nicholas Winding Refn turned something as unsettling as a prison crime into an eye catching art form with clever musical scores and excellent camera work.

Tom Hardy's performance as Charles Bronson was phenomenal. This movie was practically a one man show and he did an amazing job of controlling the film. He really captured the demented and violent nature of Bronson while being pretty funny in the process. I actually accepted this insane prisoner as the protagonist and sympathized with him. Hardy brought out a perfect balance between Bronson's sensitivity, intelligence and his villainy to the point where I was actually rooting for this muscle-bound psychopath. It was just an overall great
performance and one of the best I've seen.

The disturbing violence was another thing that made this movie great. Every fight scene had me glued to the screen. This film was just very fascinating and entertaining. The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that the trailer shows you too much. The pay offs weren't as powerful after watching the trailer so if you haven't already, don't watch the trailer before watching the movie. But you should definitely peep the movie. Its better than most American films and its one of the best films this year. I recommend you watch it as soon as possible.

District 9 sequel, Another Beatles Movie and more

District 9

Aiight, cuz. Here are some movies in production right now. Some are really tough so definitely click on 'em for more info:

District 9 sequel

Unstoppable
X-Files 3 (reboot?)
Bourne Identity 4
Yellow Submarine Remake
Dirty Dancing Remake
Capitalism: A Love Story (Michael Moore)
Solomon Kane

In other news, our latest poll shows that Ironman 2 is the most anticipated movie of 2010. I totally agree but don't sleep on The Book of Eli and The Losers. That's about it but stay up for more buzz.

Comic Book Character of the Week: Venom

An alien symbiote with a thirst for violence and flesh, Venom started out as a living costume for Spider-Man. The creature is a sentient alien with a gooey, almost liquid-like form. It requires a host, usually human, to bond around for its survival. In return the Venom creature gives its host enhanced powers. Created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, Venom made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #299 in 1988. When Spidey rejected Venom’s attempts for control, he latched onto the Daily Bugle’s Eddie Brock, spawning a decades-long quest for vengeance.

Arguably Spider-Man’s biggest nemesis, Venom is the comic book equivalent of a movie boogeyman like Freddy Krueger – he’s meant to be terrifying and villainous, but readers
thought he was so cool that eventually the symbiote became less obviously evil (he always tries never to hurt bystanders), appearing in his own title. In fact, he was so neutered that not only did he occasionally team up with Spider-Man, but Marvel created an even more evil symbiote, the mass murderer, Carnage, in order to mitigate Venom’s crimes. Currently, the symbiote is not bonded with Brock, but that remains his most famous persona. He made his on screen debut in Spiderman 3 in 2007 (for 15 minutes) and there is a Venom spinoff movie in the works.

The Wolfman Trailer

Yo, cuzzo. Here's the trailer for The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro and it looks pretty good. It centers around Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro), a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother and makes a gruesome discovery.

I'm definitely going to see this when it comes out Febuary 12th, 2010. Check out the trailer and stay up.

Censored End Credits from The Hangover

Aiight, cuz. I found the hilarious censored end credits from The Hangover. It sucks that its censored but I'm just glad I get to watch this again. This was one of the funniest parts of the movie so peep it. And if you haven't seen The Hangover yet... you need serious help. Go peep. Stay up.

Youth in Revolt Trailer

Yo, cuz. Here's the trailer for Michael Cera's newest film, Youth in Revolt. Its based on the book of the same name and it features actors like Steve Buscemi, Zack Galifianakis (The Hangover), and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas) and right off the bat I wanna say that this looks pretty funny. Cera seems to be givng up his awkward routine and doing some dark comedy. I was really impressed by this trailer.

Youth in Revolt centers around a teenager, Nick (Cera), who meets this girl and decides to create chaos in his life in order to be with her. Y'all should definitely peep the trailer and the movie when it comes out on October 30th, 2009.

District 9 Review

Yo, cuz. I'm just getting back from seeing District 9 and... I thought it was one of the summer's best movies. This graphic, dark scifi/thriller had me on the edge of my seat with my eyes glued to the screen like no other movie this summer- make that this year.

The writing and directing involved in this film is phenomenal. Director Peter Jackson and co-writer Neill Blomkamp did a great job of adding so much depth to a movie about
aliens.

Who knew that a movie about extraterrestrials who come to Earth could have so many realistic undertones? The way they were forced into slums and ghettos and treated like outlaws greatly resembles how actual human beings have been treated in real life (ie. slavery and the Halocaust).
This movie really sets itself apart from other science fiction films.

District 9 also proves that you can rely heavily on CGI and not have the movie look cheap and cartoonish, something that GI Joe failed to do. After seeing this film, my faith in CGI that GI Joe destroyed is now restored. A huge ship floated over South Africa for the entire movie and it was extremely believable.

Another thing that I really liked about this film was the action. The Cloverfield- style camera work, actual news footage and exploding bodies make this an overall enjoyable movie- going experience.

Sharlto Copley was great as Wikus van der Merwe. He reminded me of a dramatic, more serious version of Steve Carrell and he portrays his metamorphosis really well as he makes you feel his pain and anguish.

They've announced that they will be making a District 9 sequel and I for one am completely for it. I would love to see more of the District 9 universe. If you haven't seen this film yet, definitely peep it. That's about it but stay up.

Bronson Red Band Trailer

Yo, cuzzo. So I just happen to stumble onto this trailer for the new British film called Bronson. It was released a few months ago but its just recently reaching the US.

It centers around a boy named Michael Peterson who is sentenced to 7 yrs in prison after he attempts to rob a post office. His sentenced steadily increases as he commits prison crime after prison crime, earning him the title of "the most violent prisoner in Britain."

This movie looks super tough. The craziest thing is that this is based on a TRUE STORY! Michael Peterson aka Charles Bronson is still in prison to this day! Read this guy's bio and I guarantee that you will be as excited as I am about this if not more excited [Charles Bronson Bio]. This dude is outta control! I am seeing this movie within the week and if its as good as I know it'll be, I'll post a Late Review on it. The movie poster above looks epic and the Red Band trailer below looks insane. Tell me what you think.

Photos of Ryan Reynolds in Buried

Yo, cuz. Here are some exclusive photos from Ryan Reynolds' new thriller, Buried. It centers around a US contractor working in Iraq whose finds himself buried alive in a coffin. He has to find a way out with only a lighter and a cell phone before time runs out.

The majority of the movie is supposed to be spent in the coffin so this should be an intense thriller. I, personally, am looking forward to this film. The premise seems interesting plus anything that has Ryan Reynolds has my seal of approval. Check out the photos and stay up for more buzz.

Late Review: Hulk vs. Wolverine

Yo, cuz. I recently re-watched Marvel Animation's animated epic, Hulk vs. Wolverine, and I decided to do a Late Review on it. Aiight, so for an animated, direct-to-DVD, movie, its pretty sick. It brings the epic battle that takes place in The Incredible Hulk Issue #181 to life as to of the most prolific and powerful Marvel superheroes ever made go at it. As you all may know, Wolverine made his first appearance EVER fighting the Hulk and Wendingo so this is a great storyline.

The basic story is Wolverine is sent to Canada to stop the Hulk's reign of terror and destruction, but all hell breaks loose when Wolverine and Bruce Banner are both captured by the Weapon X program. This movie features appearances from Deadpool, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, and Omega Red.

Even though, its not entirely faithful to the comic book storyline, its still a great animated film. The blood and gore in this movie was phenomonal! It definitely made this movie stand apart from your average saturday morning cartoon. Wolverine was actually stabbing his enemies instead of only stabbing robots.

As you may already know, the battle between the Hulk and Wolverine is one of the greatest fights in superhero history, so if you haven't already seen this movie already definitely peep. Check out the trailer below. Its tough. That's about it, but stay up.

More Hancock, Happy Feet Sequel and more

Yo, cuzzo. Here are some tough new movies in production right now. Click on the names for more info:

Oobermind

Aiight, cuz. Dreamworks Animation is making a new animated film called Oobermind. It centers around a supervillain who imagines all his dastardly dreams coming true after defeating good-guy rival Metro Man, only to find life quite boring without an adversary. To fill the void, Oobermind creates a new superhero, Titan, who also wants to be bad, forcing Oobermind to switch sides.

So far, there hasn't been any footage released for this film but I expect it to be pretty good. The plot seems pretty funny, plus these are the same people who brought us the Shrek trilogy, Madagascar and Monsters vs. Aliens, which were all great animated movies. And its starring Brad Pitt as Metro Man, Jonah Hill as Titan, Tina Fey plays a reporter and Will Ferrell as Oobermind so I'm looking forward this one. Tell me what you guys think. Stay up for more buzz.

Comic Book Character of the Week: Colossus

Yo, cuz. This week's Comic Book Character of the Week is no other than Colossus. Created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, he first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 in May 1975.

A Russian mutant, Peter Rasputin, is a member of the X-Men and is by far physically the strongest X-Man. Even without his mutant ability to transform his entire body into a form of organic steel, he still stands at a towering 7'5. While in his armored form, he requires no food, no water, or even oxygen to sustain himself and is extremely resistant to injury.
Throughout the series he is portrayed as quiet, shy and innocent as he only reluctantly agrees to use his powers in combat. He feels its his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of human and mutant-kind.

First Photo of Avatar

Yo, cuzzo. Here's the first photo for James Cameron's Avatar. Props to /Filmcast. Avatar (not The Last Airbender) stars Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation) and is one of the most anticipated movies shown at Comic-Con and there has been absolutely no footage or photos available so this is big. Check it out. Its pretty cool and stay up for more Avatar buzz.

Defendor Photos

Yo, cuzzo. I know I haven't been posting as often as usual but I've been really busy lately. I'll try to get things back up to par.

Aiight so here are some photos from the new indie film, Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson. the movie centers around a delusional man who decides to become a superhero in order to combat his arch nemesis, Captain Industry. From what I've seen in these photos, it
seems pretty bizarre, but it does seem funny. I might keep an eye on this one Check out the pics and stay up for more buzz.
